Some NEW Forces Have Arrived.

I have been pretty involved as of late with a few NEW wargaming projects - nothing to do with FoW, or modern era wargaming. In fact, I should be adding a NEW blog soon reflecting these efforts. I will be sure to post information on that blog later.

I did manage to get a pretty good battle in a few weeks back - which my side ( the Germans) lost! Ahhh... was a really fun battle. Interesting battle that featured the .26 Panzer v. Old Iron Sides div.  A mech. infantry list v infantry. I have been playing a lot with my infantry list as of late. I mostly play Armor lists, so this is taking getting used to. So far I love the depth infantry provides - not to mention the battles offer many new options tactically.

I also finally got a hold of the Bridge at Remagen book for FoW. I love it so far. I got this mainly to complete my Western Front collection, but also to add some more nasty-ness to my Americans.

Also, I have been doing some painting and adding troops to my forces.

Some Jagdpanthers just completed.

More tank hunters, in this case some StuG replacements, the JagdpzIV L40

Just got these off a friend. These are FOUR more M10's added to my tank destroyers. Note these
 are crewed by brits!

Both my Germans and my Americans received some RECON vehicles including a few jeeps with mortars
and .50 cal MG's, a Greyhound, and some 8 Rads for the Germans.

My Jpanthers getting painted. Also note a NEW objective marker I am working on - a blown-out flak 88 gun.

Some Re-basing and other silliness...

Tonight I finally got around to re-basing some of my FoW miniatures. I realized I needed to do this since in the last couple of battles I had to proxy some of my FJ as PG! Enough of that silliness! So yes, now I have a proper three platoons worth of panzergrenadiers.

While I was at it I also prepped my Nebs and Mortar platoons for final flocking. These and a couple extra PG command teams and I should be ready to finish off the bases with proper spackling and flocking.

I hope to get some more battles in soon; perhaps even this week. Being busy with school and playing L'Art de la Guerre (ancients) has kept me pretty much away from my FoW. Hopefully that will change shortly.

Anzio Practice weekend!

More FoW action this weekend. This time around sees us playing some practice battles set in Italy, in preparation for an upcoming Firestorm: Anzio campaign.

Even though the terrain is boggy all around (difficult going), both sides are using armored forces. However, this 1,500 pt. Battle does feature airborne troops on BOTH sides - fearless-vet fun!

Germans moving up along the dry roads. FJ units in the fields to their left head for the vineyard just ahead.
Only the roads and high ground are not boggy. Both sides can be seen rushing through the wet fields to get both dry ground and objectives!
My gepanzerte grenadiers move up and partially disembark from their 251 HT's to contest an objective. A small platoon of U.S. Airborne infantry heads through the wood to assault!

My FJ are all but destroyed by an assault by U.S. armored infantry after being pinned at the central objective in the vineyard. Close support fire from the U.S. Stuarts helped a lot here. In the background the remaining Shermans (including two 76's) puts down fire on the closing Panthers,

One of my Panthers is taken out by a 76 Sherman! The shot was on the rear of my Panther and I wasn't paying attention there. Too over-confident to be sure.

My 1ic can be seen looking out from his PzIV. Tow of his tanks have been taken out already by Shermans near the vineyard/ Ahead lies a platoon of U.S. Stuarts'; always a pain in the ass for my Germans!

Yes, those are the 'dead' FJ teams closest to me.

Panthers move to out flank the vineyard position held by the Americans. One promptly bogs!

The U.S. 1ic.

End of the day for our FoW Demo Day

Our Flames of War Demo day was a success! Everyone had a blast and made plans or more FoW in the future.

My Germans played well :)

The American forces def. distinguished themselves.

Another FoW Day!

More FoW demo battles today. In this case the Germans did much better. Here are some pics of our last battle this afternoon.

Overview of the awesome Cigar Box terrain mat. Germans have reached the central positions of the battlefield. Note the burning Shermans!

Early on the Germans took out the American 2iC with a hull down PaK40 on the hill on the right.

The American Shermans on the left are hit hard by advancing PzIV's!

The Americans move up an Armored Infantry platoon in hopes of securing a central objective near the house. gepanzerte grenadiers await them along the road.

The initial deployment of the American infantry.

A look at the lay-out.
